Time expressions 16 Temmuz 2013

Apart from the obvious time expressions, such as ‘lunch time’ or ‘tea time’, there are a few expressions that we use with time.  Here are some examples:

1- ‘The time has flown by’:  If you have had a really good conversation or meeting where you forgot about the time and it went quickly you can use this expression.

2- ‘When I heard the news, time stood still’: This means that the news was so big and shocking that time felt like it had stopped.

3- ‘It’s time’: This comes from the theatre when actors are just about to go on stage.  In business English it means that the time has come to perform and convince someone of something.  You could say this right before a presentation.

So try to use those this week or month if you can in your conversation.  But now it is time for me to wish you good bye, until tomorrow. )
